In today’s world, where streaming services have made it easier than ever to watch movies at home, going to the theater might seem like an unnecessary expense. If your answer is ‘Yes’, you may stop right here. We are not the same bro. This page is not for you. Turn on your laptop and start watching the movie, please.ย ย
Watching a movie in a theater is an experience like no other. The grandeur of the theater, the immersive sound system, the comfortable seating in the reclining chairs, and the large screen with Dolby Vision all combine to create an unparalleled movie-watching experience that cannot be replicated at home. Not at all. It is most likely that the only noise I don’t mind is a theater’s cheers, whistles, and shouting when actors enter a scene or when fights take place. Meet outside and talk to me for 15 minutes. I am not listening to you unless you match the voice of Rani Mukherjee.ย ย
For me, going to the theater to watch a movie is a must. It is a ritual that I look forward to every time an upcoming movie comes out. From the moment I step into the theater, I am transported to a different world. The smell of the theater, the dimmed and colourful lights, the arousing smell of coffee, and the most incredibly special factor would be the anticipation of watching the latest movie add all to my incredible excitement. Believe it or not, I feel butterflies in my stomach when the certificate of the movie appears on the screen.
As the movie begins, I am completely immersed in the story. The large screen and powerful sound system create a sense of scale and depth that cannot be matched by a TV or laptop. I find myself laughing, crying, and feeling a range of emotions that I might not experience while watching the same movie at home.
But it’s not just about the movie itself. Going to the theater is a social experience as well. It’s a chance to bond with friends or family over a shared love of movies. It’s a chance to discuss and debate the movie afterwards, dissect its themes and plot twists, and relive the experience over and over again.
Personal noteย
If you plan to watch a movie that I am in and you cancel at the last minute for any reason, you might have earned an enemy in me. If a show I was planning to watch is put off due to low attendance that will leave me heartbroken. I have experienced this before and it is a heartbreaking experience. Spoilers: stay away. I know you have watched it already and I don’t want to hear your narration of the movie when I can experience the original in a better environment. In a movie theater, I can sit alone and watch a movie. Having a friend or family member along is a plus, but I’m not bothered if I do it alone. The experience remains the same.
When I am not able to watch First Day First Show, I try to watch it as early as possible in theaters. Just to let you know I don’t look at movie reviews or ratings. This is because I don’t want to be influenced by others about what I love the most. I will have my own opinion later and may discuss it with you.
My only and most pressing concern with the film industries, especially big ones, would be the trend of choosing the release date for holidays or festivals. As a result, we are forced to realize that bigger screens are only better during these festive seasons (yes, I know this is debatable). Instead of celebrating festivals with films, I wish to celebrate movies whenever they are released.
In the end, I just want to say that it is my personal feeling, it is worth every penny. The grand experience and immense pleasure I get from watching a movie in a theater are priceless. It’s a ritual that I want and will continue to cherish till my last breath.
