Rustam Khadka: My Path from Project Manager to be a good Leader

Portrait of Project Manager in Nepal, Rustam Khadka, a seasoned Project Manager with over 13 years of experience

My Journey

Hi, I’m Rustam Khadka, a passionate Project Manager in Nepal who still feels the same spark for this role as I did over a decade ago.

I’ve been working in the IT industry for more than 13 years, and I still wake up excited to lead, manage, and deliver. Not just because it’s my job, but because I genuinely love it. Project Management in Nepal has grown rapidly, and I’m glad I’ve been a part of that journey, learning, failing, leading, and improving every step of the way.

Over the years, I’ve worked with brilliant developers, testers, designers, and clients from different parts of the world. But at the heart of everything has always been people. As a Project Manager, I don’t just manage projects, I manage people, emotions, priorities, conflicts, budgets, deadlines, and expectations. And sometimes, all of them at once.

I believe the real magic of this role lies in making things happen, even when the odds are stacked, even when no one has the answers. That’s where the fun begins.

Why I Stay in Project Management

People often ask why I haven’t switched roles or moved on. The answer is simple: this still makes me feel alive.

Every project teaches me something new, about leadership, about empathy, and often, about myself. Whether I’m dealing with a delayed release, a demanding client, or celebrating a successful sprint, it all keeps me grounded. That’s why I proudly continue my path as a Project Manager in Nepal, choosing purpose over position, and meaning over mere milestones.

Beyond Deadlines and Dashboards

Outside of task boards and timelines, I write. Sometimes it’s about films (my first love), sometimes about work, and sometimes just thoughts that won’t sit quietly. You’ll find them in the “Unscripted” section of this site.

I also reflect a lot about loyalty, work culture, leadership, and how being a good human is still the most underrated skill in any profession.

To Those Who Shaped My Path

I owe a lot to the teams I’ve worked with, past and present. They’ve been more than colleagues. They’ve been my stepping stones, my teachers, my mirrors. Without them, there’s no “Project Manager Rustam.” Just a guy with a title.

Except for Professional life, here’s my Personal Life Thoughts

Other Corners of My World

Flix Library

My digital film diary. I write about movies from around the world, with a special love for Indian cinema. It’s not about reviews, it’s about the feeling a film leaves behind. Think of it as a space for fellow movie buffs who enjoy films beyond just entertainment.

FoodieMovieGoer

Yes, the name says it all. This one’s where my love for food and movies collide. I explore and cook dishes inspired by different cuisine, or whole Nepali food. Sometimes it’s a recipe, sometimes it’s just a memory attached to taste.

Bahundangi

My tribute to the place where I come from, Bahundangi. This site captures stories, history, people, and sometimes just little snippets of nostalgia. It’s slow, local, and deeply personal.

Kyalendar

This one’s a work in progress, and a bit of a passion project. It blends calendar, culture, and creativity in ways that (hopefully) feel fresh. Stay tuned, because this is just getting started.
