Close To My Stomach Dish

“Eromba”

Presenting the explosion of flavours in every bite with authentic Eromba, a traditional Manipuri dish that combines savoury fish or vegetables with tangy and spicy chutney, for a truly unforgettable culinary adventure.

If you ask me what is your favourite dish from childhood? This dish tops the chart undoubtedly.

Ethnic cuisine from Manipur, India and one of the popular delicacies, Eromba. Ingredients are hard to find here in Nepal. However, our family root is from Manipur, somehow my family manage to get this most of the time and this feeling(availability of ingredients) is just awesome!!!. The best part of the dish is no oil and all veggies are boiled and mashed.

It can be made with seasonal veggies like Okra, Colocasia, Bamboo Shoots, Banana flower and stem but my favourite is from Tree Beans. The best goes with steamed rice.

If you can’t eat hot, wait, super hot food then this is definitely NO NO for you because of Ghost Peppere

Ingredients. (Locally known as)

  • Tree Beans (Yongchak)
  • Ghost Pepper (Umorok) – one of the hottest chillies in the world
  • Fermented Dry Fish (Ngaari)
  • Potatoes
  • Onion
  • Warm Water
  • Sprint Onion and
  • Fresh Coriander

Warning: If you can’t eat hot food then this is NO NO for you because of Ghost Pepper and I must say “MULI KAA PARATHA” to aise hi badnaam hai because people don’t know about Tree Beans. Lastly, if you have watched the movie Axone (available on Netflix as of now) The smell of Ngaari is similar to what they have tried to show in the film while roasting on fire)

If you made it here, I am glad :
